HEBREW 305: Elementary Hebrew (Biblical)
Terms 1 & 2, 6 credits
The emphasis in this course is on grammar
and translation of Biblical Hebrew. Selections from the book of Genesis and/or
Jonah will be read in class.
Note: This is not a course in Modern Israeli Hebrew. Relatively little
attention is given to developing oral/aural skills.

HEBREW 405: Intermediate Hebrew (Biblical)
Terms 1 & 2, 6 credits
We will complete the basic grammar of Biblical Hebrew and read selected passages from the Hebrew Bible. The emphasis will be on Biblical Hebrew prose (Exodus 3:1-17; Genesis 37:1-24; Deuteronomy 6 [all]; and 1 Kings 17-19), but we will also read two poetic texts (Psalms 24 and 100).

Hebrew

In this course we will read together select Biblical narratives in Hebrew. This course aims to advance knowledge of Biblical Hebrew, develop translation and reading skills, and expose students to a variety of possible readings and interpretive discourses. Final selection of texts will be decided together at the first meeting.
