For Graduates

Welcome to the department of Classical, Near Eastern, and Religious Studies at the University of British Columbia!

We offer a unique opportunity to explore the civilizations of the ancient Mediterranean and the Near East. Our remarkably diverse faculty includes world experts on the archaeology, history, languages, literatures, and religions of ancient Egypt, the Near East, Greece and Rome, including Judaism, Christianity, and early Islam.

We offer four graduate degrees at the M.A. level and two at the PhD level: the PhD in Classics (with possible specializations in Ancient History and Classical Archaeology) and the PhD in Religious Studies.
