Archaeology
The Department of Classical, Near Eastern and Religious Studies has a strong record in the archaeological field.
Members of the Department have been involved in a wide range of archaeological excavations (map), and have been especially active in the Eastern Mediterranean, Mesopotamia and Britain.
A small display has been arranged outside the Departmental office to illustrate those sites where members have been involved in directing excavations. Although none of the items on display has any monetary value, they are all authentic.
A description of the sites represented in the case follows.
